Turning a Kolkata bridal academy into a bookable, browsable digital brand

Nanir Rupkatha is a professional bridal makeup academy and studio in Kolkata offering both makeover services and certified beauty courses. The brand needed a website that could sell two very different things — a one-time bridal look and a multi-month training program — without confusing either audience.

Results & Impact

The site has been live for a short window, so the numbers below are early, directional indicators rather than an audited report — swap these placeholders for verified analytics once enough traffic has accumulated.

Before the rebuild, Nanir Rupkatha ran almost entirely on Instagram DMs and WhatsApp forwards. Brides scrolling for a makeover artist and students researching a career course were landing on the same feed, with no way to tell the two apart — and no way to act beyond "message to enquire."

The Challenge

The academy had strong word-of-mouth and a loyal client base, but its digital presence hadn't caught up. There was no dedicated site — just social profiles — which meant no structured way to compare course fees against service pricing, no searchable portfolio of past work, and no clear next step for a visitor who was ready to book.

Mobile experience was the biggest gap: over 80% of the studio's inbound interest came from phones, but there was nothing built for that context — just static images and captions that required scrolling through months of posts to find a relevant example.

  • No dedicated booking or enquiry path — everything routed through direct messages
  • Course pricing and service pricing lived in the same feed, causing constant "is this for a bride or a student?" questions
  • Portfolio work was scattered across posts with no way to filter by occasion (bridal, reception, party, haldi)

Research & Approach

I mapped the studio's audience into two clear personas: the bride booking a one-time transformation, and the aspiring artist enrolling in a paid, multi-month course. Each needed a distinct path through the site rather than a single generic "Contact Us" funnel.

A quick competitive scan of other Kolkata bridal studios showed most sites treated services and courses as an afterthought bolted onto a portfolio page. That gap became the opening: build two clear funnels — "Book a Look" and "Enroll in a Course" — off a single, elegant homepage.

Design Process

The visual language leans into warm gold and blush tones that echo bridal makeup itself, paired with a confident serif for headings against a clean, highly-legible sans-serif for UI copy. Every section was designed mobile-first, since that's where the real decisions happen.

The gallery was restructured into filterable categories — Bridal, Reception, Party, Haldi, Creative, Mehendi, and Others — so a visitor researching one specific occasion never has to wade through irrelevant work to find it.

Development & Build

The frontend was built component-first and mobile-first, with optimized image delivery so the gallery-heavy pages stay fast even on slower mobile connections — a hard requirement given how visual the buying decision is.

Structured, semantic markup and local-intent page copy were prioritized throughout so the studio ranks for the searches that actually convert: "bridal makeup artist Kolkata," "makeup course Kolkata," and occasion-specific queries.
